new house

I'm a bit bored so I thought I'd show you all where I live :)
Or, at least, the complex as seen from our house.

The flowers were from Graham because I wasn't feeling very well yesterday. I love that man :)

Phone calls

I had a very drunken fiance ring me around lunchtime (for him it was about 10pm) and declare his love for me. Lots.

It was enough to bring a big smile to my face that lasted even after I'd started work (and right now, that takes one hell of a lot of doing). I'm grinning even thinking about it now.

Anniversary

Today is our 6 month anniversary. I hate the fact that we are not only in different counties but different countries, different continents, different hemispheres! This I could probably cope with on it's own but the fact that we don't know when we're going to see each other again means we have no date to look forward to, no time to count down, just a distant unspecified time in the future and I won't deny that it's difficult - because it's absolutely bloody appallingly hard not being with him* But we'll get there, and, to remind me how much he loves me (not that I need reminding!) and for our anniversary, he sent me these**.

Yup, I'm definitely in love

*not difficult in a 'can we keep this relationship going' sort of way but difficult in a 'it's so hard to not wake up next to him or know that I'm going to see him that day/week/month, to hear his voice but be unable to give him the hug that I so desperately want to' sort of way.

**the florist had apparently run out of red ones according to the little note I got with it but these are gorgeous don't you think?

Love is...

...the small things in life.

I have changed. I will fully admit it. For the last 26 years, I have been completely against Valentines Day. I viewed it as a day blown out of all proportion and made completely commercial and sickly and just another excuse to spend lots and lots of money that you might not have. Above all, it was just another chance for all those in loving relationships to rub it in the face of those (i.e. me) who were utterly single.

However, when I was woken up very nicely by a very loving boyfriend who had hung at the end of the bed a soft toy heart holding some chocolates (mmmmm...) I must admit that I withdrew all previous comments and wholeheartedly embraced the idea of Valentines Day. It's a wonderful day and even though we can't really afford it, he made sure that he had a little something for me.

He even cleaned the kitchen :)
